Apple's iPad might still be critiqued as not for content production and only for content consumption, however ill-informed those critics may be (this Apple iPad Ad might change some critics' mind). Apple also recently created a more polished (iOS 7 esque) version of their simple productivity iWork suite, consisting of Pages, KeyNote and Numbers and also made the suite free with purchase of new Apple products. The Microsoft Office which is still the darling of many traditional PC users, does not have a tablet version, yet (yeah, Microsoft has failed badly to embrace the recent mobile revolution) and there were rumors that Microsoft was deliberately holding back Office for iPad since its version for its Windows 8 tablets was not ready.
However this report from ZDNET reveals some inside information on the possibility of an iPad version of Office, as soon as this year, even though its Windows 8 version might not see light before the iPad version. Though Apple's iPad seems to be selling more than just well and its users do not seem to have any qualms of missing the Microsoft Office, there are still a lot of power users who would love to have Office on their iPads. So this is definitely a good news. But from the iPhone version of Office [The Verge] that was released last year, I cannot help but be extremely skeptical of its implementation on the iPad.
