AppleInsider has posted a few pictures of iTunes 12 that Apple released alongside the betas for iOS 8 and Mac OS X Yosemite. And surprise, surprise iTunes 12 does not take the route iPhotos took. Apple is phasing out iPhotos App on the Mac and replacing it with a iOS style Photos App and there were a lot of speculation that iTunes will also be split up into different Apps like Music, Videos, Podcasts, etc. This was mainly because iTunes has not aged decently and since it does so many things for one program, has become too clunky and had to be disintegrated to make it more efficient. But there were also issues like what about the iTunes for Windows? Can Apple release a suite of smaller programs instead of one iTunes? Maybe in the future, but as of now if Apple can make iTunes faster and more efficient without splitting it up, it is probably for the best.
