By now it should be obvious that Apple is working on some sort of a vehicle and/ or services related to it (like hopefully a better version of Apple CarPlay?). Head over to one of the longest columns, I had written in while, here, for where and how this rumor began to develop. If all this was not enough to convince you, here is an apparent smoking gun that pretty much confirms this rumor. This post from The Verge talks about an official letter that Apple had sent to the National Highway safety Association. In the letter Apple states the following (in quotes below).
So, there you have it, right from the horse's mouth. Now, this only confirms that Apple is exploring this category, albeit, seriously. Whether or not you will be able to buy an Apple car that you can drive home, in a few years is still a question mark. Particularly considering all the rumors ("Apple Is Said to Be Rethinking Strategy on Self-Driving Cars" via The NYT) that we had heard earlier this year which spoke about the many troubles Apple was (again apparently) having with project Titan, its car project!
